In its 12-year history of residential construction in Saskatoon, Maxim Development Corporation, owned by Mark and Vicki Bucsis, has forged strong bonds with local trades and suppliers. The company’s preference for locally-sourced materials and contractors is evident at The Brixton, Maxim’s newest multi-unit condo project located at 415 Maningas Bend in Evergreen.
“We work with all local companies on our projects. Fandango does our lighting. CalSask supplies our granite. Superior Cabinets does our kitchens. Allied Flooring supplies our flooring and backsplash. Coast supplies the appliances. We’re from Saskatchewan and we work to keep the business in Saskatchewan,” says sales manager Wade Bucsis.
The Brixton is a contemporary apartment-style condominium development being constructed in two phases. Phase one consists of 63 one- and two-bedroom units. Suites at The Brixton are priced from $186,900 to $304,900, and qualify for down payment assistance under the HeadStart on a Home program. Bucsis reports that 25 per cent of phase one units are already sold. “We’re attracting a wide demographic, from first-time buyers in their twenties to seniors in their seventies and eighties.”
The inviting suites, which range in size from 605 to 955 square feet, are impeccably attired with premium finishes and trims that would be costly upgrades in similarly priced condo projects. “Our finishing is second to none in quality and design,” says Bucsis.
Residences at The Brixton feature upgraded granite counters, two-tone custom kitchen cabinets, glass subway tile backsplashes, designer light and bath fixtures.
Three different show suites display the range of colour, cabinetry and flooring options. Buyers can choose from three different cabinetry styles, including two-tone combinations or a traditional wood grain finish. Two laminate flooring choices are available: a rustic grey barnboard-style or an elegant dark maple look. Every suite comes with a six-piece Whirlpool stainless steel appliance package.
Oversized windows and elevated ceilings enhance the feeling of spaciousness in the suites. Suites on the first and second floors have nine-foot ceilings; ceilings on the third floor are elevated to 10 feet. Most two-bedroom units feature ensuite bathrooms with neo-angle showers.
Large balconies, finished with vinyl decking, frosted glass privacy panels and natural gas barbecue connections, are attractive outdoor living spaces.
The Brixton features a welcoming hotel-style lobby, with a sitting area and a natural gas fireplace. Two amenity rooms are available for residents’ use, one on the main floor and the second on the third floor. Both are ideal spaces for larger social gatherings.
Underground parking and elevator service are appealing conveniences. Select suites come with two parking spaces: one underground and one surface. Each suite comes with a 15-square foot storage locker in the parkade.
